May refer to processes ranging from the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between organism and environ­ment, to the biochemical processes gen­erating ATP at the cellular level. a. respiratory, pert. or involved in re­spiration. see also aerobic respiration, anaerobic respiration, glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation.
