Definition

  • This system consists of intertidal areas with sparse vascular vegetation. It includes partially protected intertidal shores along rivers and other embayments; coastal shoreline strand/swales on coarse to fine mineral sediments; intertidal rocky shores on rocky or cobbly materials; and intertidal mudflats on broad to narrow, nearly flat extents of sand, mud, and silt. Vascular plant cover is sparse to generally no more than 25%
