Definition
- [Henderson's] n. light of one optical wavelength emitted by a material in response to illumination with light of another wavelength. The fluorescent dyes used as stains in fluorescence microscopy are usually those that emit a particular colour, e.g. red, green, blue, on activation by ultraviolet light.
