Definition
- [Henderson's] n. linear polysaccharide made up of glucose residues joined by β1,4 linkages. Considered to be the most abundant organic compound in the biosphere as it comprises the bulk of plant and algal cell walls, where it occurs as cellulose microfibrils. It is also found in certain tunicates. see Fig. 8.
