Definition

  • [ERO] A chemical consisting of a well-defined number of atoms covalently bonded together, and containing metal atoms. Inorganic compounds do not contain chemical moities consisting of carbon and hydrogen bonded together. Examples of inorganic compounds are: Salts: sodium chloride (NaCl), magnesium sulfate (MgSO4), Oxides: carbon dioxide (CO2), silicon dioxide (SiO2) and Iron (II, III) oxide (Fe3O4), Acids: hydrogen chloride (HCl) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4), Bases: sodium hydroxide (NaOH).
