Definition

[UTwente] The consumption of cold energy, provided by the cold circle, a water reservoir that serves as a buffer for cold energy. The water in the pond is being cooled at night. This is a natural process during the winter, while the cooling process is assisted by mechanical coolers running on off-peak electricity in summer. During the day, cold water is drawn from the lower part of the pond and circulates through various buildings, after which it is being returned to the upper part of the pond.
