Definition

[Henderson's] n. type of mycorrhiza in which the fungal hyphae form a superﬁcial covering and do not extensively penetrate the root. It is found on both coniferous and broadleaved forest trees, the infecting fungi being chieﬂy higher basidiomycetes.
